Hi Peace, certainly could be several issues related to injuries/liability, but what stands out more for me is having students shoot at each other with paintball guns. I would not promote this at a school, very poor optics.

Rebecca, the classroom kit/large emergency Kit, emergency response kit and incident command kit we put together our selves. The Bleeding Control PAK we got from Ofer Lichtman, with High Threat Innovations. http://www.TraumaPAK.com. Ofer is a first responder in San Bernardino, and worked with our County Office of Ed in Riverside. That’s where I met him. I also have a video of Ofer showing the items in the Bleeding Control PAK and how to use.

We have Classroom Emergency Kits in all classrooms. Here is a link to the video showing the contents of each kit, you should be able to cut and paste into your browser. https://youtu.be/ba606yvwzjY For larger areas (MPR, Library, Gym etc.) we have larger kits in rolling cases, with double the (same) items. The Bleeding Control kits are wall mounted next to all AEDs, and included in every classroom kit and large emergency kit. Also attached some flyers.

Jeff, I will and do accommodate substitutes for all of the reasons you listed. Haven’t had any issues with injured substitutes going on TTD, except one who was later taken off work after having a procedure.

Eric I am glad to report I have NO experience with an active skateboarding club. However I have experience with requests for skateboarding, mountain biking, snow boarding, boxing and Parkour clubs etc. Which initiates a conversation/questions for the Principal and the Teacher(s) who want to sponsor the club….off the top of my head I would ask about the activity being on campus or off campus, time of day, all weekdays or any weekends, if off campus the plan for transportation and all of the various issues/liability involved.
If the teacher will be actively participating in the sport/activity, if yes, then I also ask the Principal if the risk of loosing a classroom teacher to an injury is worth the benefit of the activity.
    Their experience with the following:
    The sport activity.
Evaluating the physical/medical fitness of a student to perform/participate in the activity.
Evaluating the equipment (boards, helmets, knee/wrist pads etc) being used (is the equipment personally owned by each student or district owned) and the plan/process for inspecting equipment and documentation of inspections.
The potential personal liability they could be accepting.
Training they will provide the students (skills for activity, heat illness, concussion etc), plan for documentation.
The number of adults present at all times, accusations of sexual molestation, etc., etc.
I am sure there are other questions/topics I have missed but typically after having the conversation the requests are not pursued.

Try not to say, No just help them get there on their own 🙂

PUHSD is using Curative for both staff and student testing. Very straight forward, just need to make sure the test taker hasn’t had anything to eat/drink for at least 20-30 minutes before testing, and that they “swab” their mouth for at least 20 seconds. Haven’t had any issues with students self administering the mouth swab. Curative is also working with CCSESA to offer competitive pricing.
