Texting Employees

Hi all! We want to be able to text our employees, especially the employees with work-related injuries and are looking for a system, app, or program that can do that. Any suggestions? Do YOU text your employees — in general, with appointment reminders, or the like?
Be careful… According to Calif Labor Code 2802 requires employers to reimburse for “all necessary business expenditures or losses incurred by the employee in direct consequence of the discharge of his or her duties” You can not expect an employee to use their personal cell phone for business unless you are reimbursing them for the use. We have had conversations about this with our unions in the past. Maybe voluntary if that is how they want to be communicated with but it can not be the only form of communication.
