I am hoping some of you can help me, I have a furniture question. Do any of you have something in writing (BP/AR) of what furniture staff can/cannot bring into the classrooms? We have a massive amount of personal furniture that could cause a liability. We would like to enforce “only district approved and purchased furniture”, however, we are having a hard time enforcing it without documentation.
I appreciate any information you can provide.

Yes, we just implemented last year a “no couch” policy at the end of last year. I was able to get some language from our JPA on best practices. We are with NCR. I’ve attached the policy in word so you can edit.Attachments:

Please see the attached notification sent out by District Leadership to our sites. We are members of SCR (sister JPA to NCR), so the information provided by Rebecca was included in our correspondence. We referenced our BP for maintaining appropriate staff-student boundaries which is # BP 4119.24 – Maintaining Appropriate Adult to Student Boundaries. In addition, all staff requesting to bring personal items must complete a “Request to bring personal property onto District property Form.” The request form has a waiver included to state that if approved, the District is not liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal property. NO tools, furniture, chemicals, or the like will be authorized to be brought from home. I am only permitted to attach one document here, so if you need additional information, feel free to reach out.
Thanks!Attachments:
