How do you handle CPR trainings in your districts.

If CPR certification is a condition of employment (coaches, health related, noon aides) Does the District cover the expense? or is it made the responsibility of the employee…. How do you determine which staff you will cover it for and which you will not?

It is a requirement of all of our PE teachers and Campus Officers. The District provides the training twice a year and I use my ASCIP safety funds to pay for it. Coaches are not contracted employees so they have to pay for their own training. They have to be a contracted employee and it must be in their job description to keep a current certificate in order for the district to pick up the cost.

If it is a condition of their employment, then the District pays for it. We have an outside contractor provide the training and certification.

I am a Risk Manager for SIPE Santa Barbara, and I provide CPR certification to all my member districts.
