Is anyone planning on providing COVID-19 tests for employees?

Considering the following: When employees return this Fall…

    1) Will you continue to offer testing – have you thought about having school nurses dispense the COVID-19 home kits?

    2) Will you ask employee about their vaccine status – either formally or voluntarily – will you track it for the purposes of managing who is required to wear masks?

    Thank you

I think CalOSHA will be answering #2 for you. According to CASBO bulletin yesterday OSHA is requiring us to keep track of who is and who is not vaccinated and then we have to provide N95 mask to those who are not. The knowledge is also needed to determine if mask need to be worn by vaccinated. It is my understanding that if everyone in a room is vaccinated mask do not need to be worn but if you have one prson in the room who is not then all must wear a mask. There was suppose to be a CalOSHA meeting last night to determine more details but I have not yet seen what has come from that meeting. Also they are saying these new guidlines will not take effect until July 31 plenty of time for things to change between now and then.

We will be updating our written workplace safety/covid prevention plan and continue to follow the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health “K-12 Schools Reopening Protocols” (aka “Appendix T1”) which is anticipated around June 15th, along with the Final CalOSHA determination . . . which the News Outlets are now saying will align with the CA STATE Dept of Public Health’s upcoming June 15th guidelines.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health “Schools Exposure Management Plan” (aka “Appendix T2”) covers testing requirements surrounding OUTBREAKS specifically. Currently, Athletics ASIDE and outside of an outbreak, the CA state nor LA DPH does NOT presently Mandate SURVEILLANCE testing nor at any particular cadence. With conditions improving/protocols loosening, it’s hard to imagine they would ADD a SURVEILLANCE Testing Requirement.

What is determined for general industry workplaces could be different for what SCHOOLS, healthcare or congregate settings are required to do. And as Ms. Jammee said, a lot can change between now and 7/31…and even after that.
